Mirrors are what got me into this line of work, yet are poorly represented on this site. This is mostly due to the difficulty in photographing a mirror without including the photographer. The images here were done by Do Felton at Almac using a tricky periscope kind of lens. If it weren't a pain to drag the mirrors across Stockton St I would have him shoot more. Maybe soon. So this should give a idea of what I do.
The frames themselves are made of 2 layers of wood, the top layer being a solid piece so there aren't issues with cracking at the joins. I hand shape the edges to eliminate the 90 degree regularity of sawn lumber and to make a better surface for plastering. Because of the irregularities of this technique it isn't great with beveled glass.
